Vidal hoping to start against Atletico

Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal is hopeful that he will be given the nod to start Saturday's La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Vidal - a summer arrival from Bayern Munich - has only started two La Liga games for Barcelona this season, and is already believed to be frustrated with his bit-part role at Camp Nou.

Ivan Rakitic's suspension means that there is a spot open in the Barcelona midfield for the clash with Atletico, and Vidal, who scored twice for Chile during the recent international break, is eyeing the position alongside Sergio Busquets and Arthur.

"I have returned from the international break and I'm here in Barcelona to work hard and impress," Vidal told Diario Sport. "Now I feel that I am at full capacity, at 100% and feeling very good.

"I scored a couple of goals and played really well, so I am in a good moment. Now I believe I am in a position to start but that is a decision which is up to the coach."

Vidal has managed two goals and two assists in nine La Liga appearances for Barcelona, who currently sit top of La Liga despite suffering a 4-3 defeat to Real Betis before the international break.
