Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde claims that his team are not thinking about equalling Real Sociedad's long-standing unbeaten La Liga record.

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has claimed that his team are not thinking about equalling Real Sociedad's long-standing unbeaten La Liga record in Saturday's clash with Leganes.

Barcelona are currently on a 37-game unbeaten run in Spain's top flight, and they would draw level with Sociedad's record from 1979-80 if they avoid defeat against Leganes at Camp Nou.

Valverde, however, has insisted that his team are solely focused on overcoming Leganes as they look to move one step closer to reclaiming the title.

"We don't really have it in our heads. We remember in these cases and they're important figures, but we're already talking about achieving it – we have to win or draw tomorrow," Valverde told reporters.

"It's a record that's been there a long time so it's difficult to match it, obviously, but we have a chance of doing it.

"Statistics vary from day to day. I'm used to winning, we're making our way and we want to reap the fruits of the season's work, now we have the most beautiful and also the most difficult [period to come]."

Barcelona are currently nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga.
