Pep Guardiola pleased with Eric Abidal progress

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has spoken of his delight at the news that Eric Abidal's recovery from a liver transplant surgery is going well.

The 32-year-old France international, who was diagnosed with liver cancer last March, underwent the procedure on Tuesday along with his cousin, who was the donor.

Club president Sandro Rosell revealed on Wednesday that the operation was completed safely and Guardiola has expressed his happiness at the news.

"He is doing well," enthused the 41-year-old. "The doctors told me that everything is going as planned. That's the best news we can have."
