Donor comes forward for Eric Abidal surgery

A childhood friend of Eric Abidal has reportedly offered to act as a donor for the Barcelona full-back's upcoming liver transplant.

It was revealed last week that French international, who had a tumour removed from the organ last year, required the procedure.

An acquaintance with the same blood type as Abidal has now come forward to offer the defender part of his live, according to ABC.

It is not known whether or not Abidal will make a return to competitive football.
