Claudio Bravo reveals that he pushed to join Manchester City in the summer after losing his number one spot at Barcelona.

Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has revealed that losing his starting role with Barcelona prompted him to leave the Spanish champions in the summer transfer window.

Bravo had been Barcelona's first-choice stopper over the last two seasons, with the Chilean handed the gloves in the league while German international Marc-Andre ter Stegen operated in the two cup competitions.

The Chilean departed Camp Nou for Manchester City in the latter stages of the transfer window and he has confirmed that losing the number one role to Ter Stegen played a key role in leaving Spain.

"It was not me that was [first] at Barca, it was Ter Stegen," Bravo told Cadena SER. "The club made me an offer to renew but, seeing their plans, I also made them understand my position.

"I was very sincere; I did not want to sit on the bench. It's not my thing. And they understood. In Barcelona I always devoted myself to doing my best, I always felt the support."

Bravo has started both of Man City's last two Premier League matches after replacing Joe Hart and Willy Caballero as the first-choice goalkeeper at the Etihad.
