Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Sevilla

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Sevilla.

Barcelona will be looking for their fourth straight win in all competitions when they welcome Sevilla to Camp Nou in La Liga on Sunday night.

The Catalan giants have struggled for form in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign - already dropping points in three of their seven La Liga fixtures this term.

Ernesto Valverde's side have won their last two in the league to move into fourth, however, and are only two points off leaders Real Madrid heading into this weekend's fixtures.

The Spanish champions will also enter the clash with Sevilla off the back of a 2-1 home win against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barca's latest injury and suspension news ahead of this weekend's mouthwatering contest at Camp Nou.

Jordi Alba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Eibar)

Barca will once again be without Jordi Alba with the left-back still battling to overcome a hamstring problem. The Spaniard has stepped up his recovery from the issue but was not able to take part in Thursday's recovery training session following the Champions League tie against Inter.

Samuel Umtiti

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: October 29 (vs. Real Valladolid)

Samuel Umtiti is out until the end of October with a foot injury. The 25-year-old, who is yet to represent Barca this season, picked up the issue while training with France during last month's international break.

Junior Firpo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: October 6 (vs. Sevilla)

Junior Firpo missed the Champions League clash with Inter due to a muscular problem, and it appears unlikely that the summer arrival will recover in time to face Sevilla. As a result, Nelson Semedo might have to switch from the right to the left, which was also the case against Inter.

Ansu Fati

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: October 6 (vs. Sevilla)

Ansu Fati was not involved in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Inter due to growing pains in his knees. However, the 16-year-old was able to take part in Barca's training session on Thursday.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barca will be without the services of French defender Clement Lenglet after he was sent off in the 2-0 win over Getafe last weekend. Umtiti's absence means that Jean-Clair Todibo could feature alongside Gerard Pique in central defence.
