Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona injury, suspension list vs. Athletic

Barcelona will seek to build on their pulsating opening La Liga win over Real Sociedad when they travel to Athletic Bilbao in gameweek two of the 2020-21 campaign.

Ronald Koeman's men marched to a 4-2 success over Sociedad during the opening gameweek of the season on Sunday, as Martin Braithwaite (two), Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto came up with the goals.

Barca's first La Liga game of the post-Lionel Messi era began in ideal fashion, and Koeman's men have fond memories of playing Athletic, having eased to a 4-0 success in April's Copa del Rey final.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: Unknown

Sergio Aguero only arrived from Barcelona on a free transfer earlier in the summer following a departure from Manchester City, but he is facing another couple of months on the sidelines with a calf issue.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Ousmane Dembele has gone under the knife to resolve the knee issue he suffered with France at Euro 2020, and the Frenchman is not expected to return before October.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Marc-Andre ter Stegen was ruled out of Germany's Euro 2020 campaign after undergoing an operation on a knee injury back in May, and the shot-stopper will watch on from the medical room for a little while longer.

Oscar Mingueza

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona confirmed last week that Oscar Mingueza had suffered a hamstring injury during Spain's Olympic quarter-final clash with Ivory Coast. He has been pictured in training recently, but the club have not put a timeline on his recovery, and it would be a surprise to see him feature on Saturday.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Ansu Fati has been put through his paces in training after battling his way back from a serious injury, and Koeman is hopeful that the teenager will be available for selection after the September international break.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST
