Lionel Messi has made his first appearance for Barcelona since November last year as he has come on a second-half substitute against Getafe in their ongoing Copa del Rey clash.

The Argentina international forward had been sidelined with a thigh injury, but returned to training after the winter break and was named in the Blaugrana's 18-man squad for their match against the Madrid outfit on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old started the first leg of their last-16 tie at Camp Nou on the bench and was introduced to the action on 64 minutes in place of Andres Iniesta, shortly after Cesc Fabregas had put the hosts 2-0 up.
