How Barcelona could line up against Dynamo Kiev

How Barcelona could line up against Dynamo Kiev

Barcelona will be looking to advance to the last-16 stage of the Champions League with two games to spare when they travel to Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night.

Ronald Koeman's side have picked up nine points from their three Group G matches to sit at the top of the section, and a victory in this game would see them qualify for the knockout round of the competition.

The Catalan giants will enter the match off the back of a disappointing result, though, having lost 1-0 away to Atletico Madrid in La Liga on Saturday night as the team's domestic problems continued.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Barca could line up in Kiev.

Out: Ronald Araujo (hamstring), Ansu Fati (knee), Sergio Busquets (knee), Gerard Pique (knee), Samuel Umtiti (knee), Sergi Roberto (muscle), Lionel Messi (rested), Frenkie de Jong (rested)

Already without Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati and Sergio Busquets for this match, Barca's injury problems worsened on Saturday when Gerard Pique was forced off against Atletico with a knee problem.

Pique could now be facing an extended period on the sidelines, while Roberto's absence could open the door for Sergino Dest to earn another start at right-back.

Koeman has left both Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong out of the travelling party, meaning that there could be a debut for Oscar Mingueza in the middle of the defence, with the 21-year-old expected to be named alongside Clement Lenglet.

Carles Alena could benefit from the midfield absences to start alongside Miralem Pjanic, while Philippe Coutinho made his return from injury as a substitute against Atletico and is now pushing for a start.

Messi's absence could see Pedri and Ousmane Dembele feature in the wide positions, with Antoine Griezmann playing through the middle.

Trincao is another option in a forward area, but Koeman is expected to resist the temptation to make sweeping changes as Barca look to book their spot in the knockout round of the Champions League.
