Barcelona forward Pedro has revealed that his team are devastated to lose Carles Puyol to an injury that could see the defender on the treatment table for a considerable part of the season.
Puyol suffered a dislocated elbow during Barca's 2-0 win at Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday, an incident which marred an efficient performance from Tito Vilanova's side.
Pedro told Bein Sport that his teammates are "disappointed" to lose their influential defender.
The Spanish international winger said: "It really hurts for Puyol.
"We did well tonight, it was a big win against a difficult rival
"But it hurts us. We are very disappointed to have lost him, because he is an important player."
Puyol's absence comes at a crucial time for Barca, who face bitter rivals Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the La Liga season on Sunday, October 7.
