Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone in talks over new deal

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has confirmed that he is in talks with the club over a new contract.

The Argentine has been linked with the manager's job at Manchester City, should the Premier League club decide to part ways with Manuel Pellegrini.

Simeone has acknowledged that talks are ongoing over extending his stay at Vicente Calderon.

"It's clear that I'm very happy with the club, that I love Atletico Madrid," Goal.com quotes the 44-year-old as saying.

"We are trying to continue this project started three years ago and we are evaluating the two parties with the same enthusiasm and the same inclination."

Simeone's current deal runs until 2017.
