Half-Time Report: Raul Garcia goal puts Atletico Madrid ahead

An early goal from Raul Garcia has given Atletico Madrid a 1-0 lead over Villarreal at half time in La Liga this afternoon.

The home side took the lead less than quarter of an hour into the match, as Garcia headed in from a Koke corner, following a strong spell of possession for Atletico.

The striker had a chance to add his second 10 minutes later as he tried to tap in from another corner, but Villarreal eventually managed to clear the danger.

The home team continued to create the majority of the chances in the opening 30 minutes, but struggled to get their shots away.

Manu Trigueros had Villarreal's best chance, picking up a through-ball from Cani, but his powerful shot was blocked.
