Diego Simeone expecting "rowdy atmosphere" against Real Madrid

Diego Simeone says that Atletico Madrid will have to "put in a very good performance" against Real Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has said that he is expecting an "electric" atmosphere when his side take on Real Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey last-16 tie tomorrow evening.

The Spanish champions claimed a 2-0 win in last week's first leg, but Simeone admits that his players will have to be at their best to reach the quarter-finals.

"I don't want to waste any time on pre-match assumptions," he told reporters. "We are up against a very strong and powerful rival.

"The stadium will be completely packed because they have lowered tickets. The atmosphere will be electric and that's a good thing - we're hoping for a lively, rowdy atmosphere will a lot of pressure.

"We have a positive result from the first leg in the bag but, obviously, we're playing against the world and European champions. They change one player from their ideal XI and we know that we have to put in a very good performance."

Atletico claimed a 2-1 win against Real Madrid on their last visit to the Bernabeu in September.
