Bjorn Kuipers to referee Champions League final

Kuipers to referee CL final

Bjorn Kuipers will referee the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in Lisbon on May 24.

The 41-year-old, who has been registered with FIFA since 2006, has officiated 68 European ties, including four in this season's Champions League and three in the Europa League.

Real Madrid have drawn one and lost one of their matches which Kuipers has refereed, including the 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the European Cup last season.

The Dutchman has taken charge of just one match involving Atletico, meanwhile, with the capital outfit drawing 2-2 with Chelsea in the group stages of the 2009-10 campaign.

Kuipers was also the referee for the final of the Confederations Cup last summer.
