Carlos Gurpegi signs new Athletic Bilbao deal

Athletic Bilbao skipper Carlos Gurpegi has signed a new contract with the Spanish club until 2015.

The 33-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, leaving him free to discuss terms with interested parties in January.

However, Bilbao have moved to tie their captain, who can play in midfield or defence, to the Basque outfit for another season at least.

Gurpegi came through the Bilbao youth system before stepping into the first team in 2002.
