Preview: BATE Borisov vs. Athletic Bilbao

BATE Borisov vs. Athletic Bilbao

Both BATE Borisov and Athletic Bilbao go into their Champions League encounter on Tuesday evening badly in need of a win to get their season back on track.

BATE are top of the Belarusian league by three points, but with their season currently in the Championship Round, they need to address a run that has seen them fail to win in four matches.

Their opening game in the group stages saw them suffer a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Porto.

As for Bilbao, they are yet record a victory throughout September, drawing two and losing three of their five fixtures in the month.

They ended August with impressive triumphs at home to Napoli and Levante respectively, but they have since dropped down to 16th in La Liga and drew a blank against Shakhtar Donetsk.

BATE boss Aleksandr Yermakovich is able to choose from a fully-fit squad, but Ager Aketxe is missing for Bilbao with a broken toe. Recent form
