Lazio have picked up from where they left off last season by overcoming Atalanta BC by one goal to nil.

Hernanes put Lazio in front after 16 minutes when he was found inside the box by Stafano Mauri.

The visitors then wasted a string of chances - Mauri being the main culprit - as they looked to get their Serie A campaign off to a flying start.

Federico Marchetti was called into action late in the game, palming away Facundo Parra's header from a tight angle.

However, Vladimir Petkovic's men comfortably saw out the victory in the end.
