Villa succeed with Ross McCormack bid?

Aston Villa have reportedly outbid Norwich City for the services of Fulham striker Ross McCormack.

The 29-year-old has been hotly pursued by the Canaries this summer as they look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

Alex Neil's side had made an offer of £11m - with a further £1m following in add-ons - but the deal has been hijacked at the last moment by Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

Villa's new owner Dr Tony Xia is thought to have put forward an initial offer of £12m, with bonuses following in the event that the Midlands side are promoted back to the top flight.

The newspaper claims that Villa's offer matches Fulham's valuation of the player and the deal could now be completed "within the next 24 hours".

One of the Championship's most prolific forwards, McCormack has scored 42 goals in two seasons since his arrival at Craven Cottage in 2014.
