Aston Villa release Marc Albrighton, Nathan Delfouneso

Aston Villa this evening announced that they have released Marc Albrighton and Nathan Delfouneso.

Albrighton, 24, and Delfouneso, 23, both graduated from Villa's academy but will now play their football elsewhere next season.

The duo have struggled to feature regularly under Paul Lambert at Villa, spending time away on loan in lower divisions.

Albrighton made 19 Premier League appearances last season but also had a brief loan spell with Wigan Athletic in the Championship, while Delfouneso had two stints away from Villa Park with Blackpool and Coventry City in 2013-14.
