Aston Villa transfer news: Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott complete deadline day loan moves with key details revealed

Two new Villans: Key details revealed as Sancho, Elliott complete deadline day moves

Aston Villa have confirmed the loan signings of Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott from Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

Sancho has been looking for a new club throughout the summer after Chelsea paid a penalty fee for him to return to Man United following his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.

Roma were keen to bring Sancho to Italy, but the move fell through after the player turned down the opportunity to join Gian Piero Gasperini's side.

Aston Villa then emerged as a possible destination on deadline day, and they ultimately moved swiftly to seal an agreement with Man United.

The Red Devils were keen to secure a permanent transfer for a player who is out of contract next summer, but they have agreed for Sancho to join Unai Emery's squad on a season-long loan deal.

Who will pay Sancho's wages?

As per Sky Sports News, the Villans will pay a loan fee and 80% of Sancho's salary, which is believed to be in excess of £200,000 a week.

Sancho will hope that Aston Villa can provide the platform to prove himself in the Premier League, having mustered 12 goals and 11 assists in 89 top-flight appearances during his time at Man United and Chelsea.

The winger will play alongside attacking midfielder Elliott, who also completed a deadline day move to Villa Park.

Elliott has completed a loan move from Liverpool, which includes a reported £35m obligation for Villa to sign him on a permanent transfer next summer.

The agreement between the two clubs will see Liverpool retain a sell-on and a buy-back option.

Elliott had to settle for a squad role under Liverpool boss Arne Slot, so he will hope that the move to Aston Villa will enable him to enjoy regular playing time.

When could Elliott and Sancho make their Villa debuts?

The Liverpool loanee showcased his talents at the Under-21 European Championship in June, scoring five goals in six appearances to help England retain the trophy

Elliott will bring versatility to Emery's squad, having previously shown that he can play as a central midfielder, number 10 and on the flanks.

Sancho and Elliott could make their debuts when Aston Villa return from the international break with a Premier League away game against Everton on September 13.

Elliott should be in contention to start at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, although Sancho may have to settle for a substitute role due to his lack of match fitness with his last competitive outing taking place in May's Conference League final.
