McLeish keen on Duff

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish will attempt to sign Fulham winger Damien Duff in January, according to The Mirror.

McLeish reportedly believes that he can secure the Republic of Ireland international for £1.5m, but has been told that he must first balance the books by owner Randy Lerner.

McLeish is keen to add fresh impetus to his team and provide ammunition for striker Darren Bent, who has struggled for goals this season.

Duff, who is currently out injured, moved to Fulham from Newcastle in 2009.
