Paul Lambert not thinking about January signings

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert claims that he is not thinking about signing new players in January following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Wigan.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has played down the suggestion of signing new players in January following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Villa will start 2013 just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League thanks to a 10th loss of the season.

When asked if he would be adding to his squad in the New Year, Lambert told Sky Sports News: "No. The main thing is to digest what has happened here at the minute and we will see what happens.

"You have got to try and lift the players. We have got a lot of players out and I'm not so sure some are going to come back [soon]. It's a tough time. You have to hang in."

Aston Villa return to league duties on Tuesday when they travel to Swansea City.
