Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion are both reportedly considering a move for Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner.
The 25-year-old is thought to want a move back to the Midlands, according to The Mirror.
However, Sunderland would only accept the £4.7m that they paid Birmingham City for the Solihull-born player.
An option for Villa and the Baggies is to take Gardner on loan until the end of the season.
