Marc Albrighton has outlined his determination to keep his place in the Aston Villa team and win a new contract from manager Paul Lambert.
The winger, who will be out of contract at Villa Park come the end of the season, has struggled for appearances this term due to a string of injury problems, but started the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
The Birmingham Mail quotes Albrighton as saying: "If I can play games and show the manager what I'm capable of, who knows what will happen?
"I said at the start of the season it's a massive year and now I've got into the starting lineup hopefully I can keep my place and get a few more games.
"He has always told me I'm in his plans and to get back to where I was. That's what I'm aiming to do and if I can do that then brilliant."
Albrighton recently came back from a loan spell with Wigan Athletic.
