Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann hails the club's fans after his side moved out of the relegation zone courtesy of a 2-1 win over Reading this afternoon.

Aston Villa forward Andreas Weimann has hailed the club's fans for the part they played in his side's 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Reading this afternoon.

Villa moved out of the relegation zone after Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor cancelled out Nathan Baker's calamitous own goal in the first half.

Reading pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Villa held out to claim just their second league win in 12 matches.

"Massive three points today against Reading! Fans were brilliant again! Up the Villa!" Weimann wrote on Twitter.

The result puts Villa three points above the bottom three, although 18th-placed Wigan Athletic have a game in hand over Paul Lambert's men.
