Aston Villa announce Emile Heskey, Carlos Cuellar, Brad Guzan departures

Aston Villa let go of Emile Heskey, Carlos Cuellar and Brad Guzan following the expiration of their current contracts.

Aston Villa have announced that Emile Heskey, Carlos Cuellar and goalkeeper Brad Guzan will leave the Midlands outfit following the expiration of their contracts.

The three senior players were expected to leave Villa Park this summer, with the club deciding against renewing their deals.

Guzan ends his four-year stint at the club, while Heskey has been forced to call time on his Villa career after three years at the Premier League outfit.

Cuellar gave an emotional farewell to the club's supporters during Villa's lap of honour at the end of the season following five years in the Midlands.

The club said in a statement on their official website: "Villa would like to thank them for their unstinting loyalty to the club and wish them all the best for the future."

Villa have also released eight academy players.
