Fulham vs. Aston Villa: Unai Emery's side looking to set new club record

Villa looking to set new club record in Fulham game

Aston Villa will be looking to set a new club record when they square off against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Unai Emery's side return to top-flight action after the international break sitting in fifth place in the Premier League standings.

Although the West Midlands outfit were held to a goalless draw with Manchester United last time out, there is an air of positivity at Villa Park.

Playing before the four teams above them, Villa have the opportunity to move into fourth in the table, one point adrift of leaders Liverpool who face Chelsea on Sunday.

Should Villa be able to secure maximum points on their visit to Craven Cottage, they will be setting a new club first in the process.

What club record can Villa break?

Villa have managed to put together a three-match winning streak against Fulham, a run which started with a 1-0 triumph om familiar territory in April 2023.

That was backed up by the double being recorded over the West Londoners during 2023-24, Villa prevailing by a 2-1 scoreline in the corresponding fixture to Saturday's contest.

Should Villa emerge victorious in the capital, it would mark the first time they have ever recorded four successive league victories over their next opponents.

Just 28 triumphs have come from 76 outings in all competitions against Fulham, while Villa have only ever won four times in 19 top-flight encounters.

Furthermore, Fulham have never lost consecutive home league games versus Villa, despite having lost five of their seven games in all competitions since the start of 2020.

Fulham looking to equal 12-year record

Fulham can also be delighted with their start to the season, accumulating 11 points from their seven games and only losing to Manchester United and Manchester City.

Both of those defeats have come on away territory with Marco Silva accumulating seven points from their three home league fixtures during the opening two months of 2024-25.

Not since the 2011-12 campaign have Fulham put together a four-match unbeaten run at Craven Cottage to start a season.
