Tim Sherwood: 'Christian Benteke is improving'

Aston Villa coach Tim Sherwood insists that young striker Christian Benteke is improving following his match-winning contribution against West Bromwich Albion.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has insisted that striker Christian Benteke is improving following his match-winning performance against West Bromwich Albion.

The young striker converted an injury-time penalty to give the Villans a 2-1 victory over the Baggies, a result which sees Villa now climb out of the Premier League's relegation zone.

"Christian Benteke is improving," Sherwood told BT Sport.

"I spoke to him before the game about what he would do if we get a penalty and he said he just waits for the keeper to move and then puts it into the corner. Easy as that."

Villa hold 17th spot in the league standings.
