Aston Villa's Matt Lowton "devastated" by defeat to Fulham

Aston Villa full-back Matt Lowton says that he and his teammates were "devastated" following Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Fulham.

Aston Villa full-back Matt Lowton has admitted that he and his teammates were "devastated" to lose to Fulham last weekend.

The Midlands side managed to draw level with a goal from Grant Holt 20 minutes before the end of normal time at Villa Park on Saturday.

However, Fulham were able to snatch a 2-1 victory following an 86th-minute goal from Hugo Rodallega.

"I was on a high going into the game," Lowton told the club's official website. "It's just a shame that we got nothing from it. Everyone was down after that.

"It was a game we were definitely thinking we needed three points from at home to a team that are lower than us, but it didn't turn out that way, so the lads were devastated in the dressing room."

Villa are 13th in the Premier League table, seven points above the relegation zone with six games left to play.
