Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert hails arrival of 'powerful' Carlos Sanchez

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert describes the capture of 'powerful' Carlos Sanchez as a "great coup" for the club.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes that new signing Carlos Sanchez will add "real power" to his team following his arrival from Elche.

The 28-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Midlands outfit last Friday following on from his World Cup performance with Colombia.

"Carlos is a great coup for Villa," Lambert told the club's official website. "Carlos has real power and he knows the role really, really well. He will come in today.

"He hasn't done too much since the World Cup but in Brazil I thought he was excellent in a team that took everyone by surprise. He comes with great pedigree and now it's up to use to get him up to speed and let him fit in."

Villa began their Premier League campaign on a high note by securing a 1-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.
