Paul Lambert explains Marc Albrighton loan recall

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert reveals that he required midfielder Marc Albrighton back at the club ahead of the upcoming festive period.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has admitted that he was pleased with midfielder Marc Albrighton's contribution during his loan spell with Wigan Athletic.

Albrighton featured four times for the Latics during a month-long loan spell but after recalling him to Villa Park, Lambert has revealed that he needed to strengthen his squad after of a run of eight matches in 33 days.

The 44-year-old told reporters: "He's done well for Owen Coyle. But we need everybody and I've pulled Marc back because of that.

"The amount of games that we're going to have to play in this period is pretty demanding."

The 24-year-old has only played in one Capital One Cup tie for Villa this season.
