Jack Grealish fined by Aston Villa over hotel party

Jack Grealish must 'learn to make the right decisions' if he is to make the most of his potential, according to Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Aston Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo has warned midfielder Jack Grealish that he needs to quickly learn his lesson after being fined for his part in an all-night party.

The 21-year-old was caught up in more off-field antics last week as police were called to a Birmingham hotel following complaints of rowdy behaviour, although no arrests were made and the winger was not among those to be thrown out.

Grealish was suspended for Saturday's draw with Newcastle United as a result of the latest incident and also handed an unspecified fine, but will be back in contention for the meeting with Barnsley in midweek.

Speaking to reporters after the 1-1 tie with Newcastle, Di Matteo said: "We've fined the boy and he was suspended for today. It's not the first time but he needs to learn from the past and the only one who can do that is himself. He needs to make the right decisions.

"He's 21 now and needs to understand what kind of career he has ahead of him. As long as he does what he's supposed to do we will treat him like everyone else."

Villa, relegated from the top flight last season, have gone seven league games without a win to remain in 17th place in the Championship table.
