Brad Guzan thanks Shay Given

Aston Villa's Brad Guzan has hailed fellow goalkeeper Shay Given for the support he has given him this season.

American Guzan took over the duties between the posts from Given after the veteran committed a couple of errors earlier in the season.

However, rather than animosity, Guzan has revealed that he has received nothing but support from the former Republic of Ireland keeper.

"He's been brilliant and a true professional. For me to be able to work with someone like Shay is only going to help me," said Guzan.

"So I am going to continue to try to pick his brain and see what he says about certain situations. That is what we do. We push each other in training and hopefully I make him a better goalkeeper. I know he makes me a better one."

Guzan joined Villa in 2008 from Chivas USA.
