Gabriel Agbonlahor: 'Return of Christian Benteke is crucial'

Gabriel Agbonlahor admits that the return of Christian Benteke gives Aston Villa a big boost heading into a hectic Christmas schedule.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the return of Christian Benteke could be a turning point in Aston Villa's season.

Benteke missed the start of the campaign as he recovered from an Achilles injury, before recently coming back from suspension to help Villa to successive victories, and Agbonlahor believes that his teammate's performance in Sunday's win over Leicester City proves how crucial he is to the side.

"He's a big, big player for us," the Villa forward told members of the media. "He offers a lot more than just scoring goals - look at his assist to Alan Hutton on Sunday.

"That shows that if he doesn't score he adds something. He has his sharpness back too. We are very, very happy to have him back."

Villa meet West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.
