Leonardo Jardim calls for Radamel Falcao patience

AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim vows to remain cautious with Radamel Falcao while the Colombia international builds up his fitness at the start of the new campaign.

AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has insisted that he will remain cautious with Radamel Falcao while the Colombia international builds up his fitness at the start of the new campaign.

Following two unsuccessful loan spells with Manchester United and Chelsea, Falcao is now back with Monaco and scored his first Ligue 1 goal since August 2014 in Saturday's 3-0 win over Rennes.

Jardim, however, has refused to place too much pressure on the 30-year-old, who has struggled to fully recover from the cruciate knee ligament injury that saw him miss the 2014 World Cup.

"It's normal that he is not at 100% because he did not play for a month. He needs to play more and more to reach his level. I don't know if he'll be able to play 90 minutes. We'll see what happens, and we'll have to substitute him if needed," Jardim told reporters.

Monaco have collected 13 points from their five Ligue 1 matches this season, with that total leaving Jardim's side top of the pile, two points clear of champions Paris Saint-Germain.
