Arsenal's Ben White left the England camp at the 2022 World Cup due to a bust-up with Three Lions assistant Steve Holland, according to a report.

Arsenal defender Ben White reportedly left the England camp at the 2022 World Cup due to a bust-up with Three Lions assistant Steve Holland.

The 24-year-old's strong start to the season for the Gunners saw him earn a spot in the England squad for the competition in Qatar.

White has played as a right-back at club level this season, featuring on 19 occasions in all competitions, contributing two assists in the process.

The defender was an unused substitute for England's first two Group B matches against Iran and the USA, though, before being left out of the squad against Wales.

At the end of November, a statement from the Football Association revealed that White had left the team's training base and returned to London.

"Ben White has left England's training base in Al Wakrah and returned home for personal reasons," read an FA statement.

"The Arsenal defender is not expected to return to the squad for the remainder of the tournament. We ask that the player's privacy is respected at this moment in time."

According to the Daily Star, an alleged altercation with England boss Holland was the reason for the defender leaving the squad in the group stage of the tournament.

The report claims that White found it difficult to integrate into the squad, while he 'exchanged words' with Holland in front of the rest of the team.

The Arsenal defender allegedly annoyed Holland when he was not aware of 'some vital information relating to his personal stats' during a team meeting ahead of the second group fixture with the USA.

The call to remove White from the camp was allegedly 'a mutual decision', with the former Brighton & Hove Albion youngster down the pecking order for the right-back spot and positions in the middle of the defence.

White starred on loan at Leeds United in the Championship during the 2019-20 campaign before playing 39 times for Brighton the season after, including 36 outings in the Premier League.

A number of clubs were linked with the Englishman due to his strong form, but Arsenal signed him in the summer of 2021, and he featured on 37 occasions in 2021-22.

The defender has now made 56 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, while he has featured on four occasions for England, with his last cap coming against the Ivory Coast in a friendly back in March.
