Arsene Wenger working "24 hours a day" on Arsenal transfers

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claims that he is working every hour of the day to try to bring players to the club in the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger has hit back at fan criticism for the club's lack of transfer activity and insisted that he is working every hour of the day to bring players to the outfit.

Angry fans chanted "Spend some fucking money" at the Frenchman as his team were beaten 3-1 by Aston Villa at the Emirates on Saturday.

The Gunners have reportedly been chasing a host of top stars this summer, including Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Gonzalo Higuain and Stevan Jovetic were also said to be targets before they signed for Napoli and Manchester City respectively, and Wenger has claimed that the club are working harder than ever to attract the right players.

"We are there to spend money. People say, 'Buy players, buy players, buy players' but who? we analyse every single player in the world and work 24 hours a day for that," Wenger is quoted as saying in The Telegraph.

"We are serious about it. Until we buy players we have to win football games. My job is to make the fans happy. But we haven't lost a game because of that. That's what I want to convince you of.

"We are in the market, everybody knows we are ready to buy players, but until we buy players we have to win football games and it's not an excuse not to win the game."

So far, Arsenal have only signed Yaya Sanogo this summer.
