Arsenal are reportedly plotting a move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, with the future of Gabriel Martinelli in North London uncertain.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are aiming to close their 2024-25 campaign with a few wins following a 2-2 draw at the base of Premier League champions Liverpool last weekend.

It appeared as if Mikel Arteta's men could be heading towards their first-ever Champions League crown, before they were knocked out by Paris Saint-Germain.

The Spanish head coach has won just one FA Cup and a handful of Community Shields since joining the North London outfit over five years ago.

Looking to take a step to the next level and win another major honour in 2025-26, Arsenal are aiming to significantly improve their squad.

Arsenal accelerate pursuit of Gordon?

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are plotting a move for a top-class winger ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, in which they could spend heavily.

The report claims that the Gunners are considering a swoop for Newcastle star Gordon, who has impressed massively for the North-East giants in recent times.

It is understood that Arteta's men will move for the England international should current attacker Gabriel Martinelli depart the Emirates.

Arsenal's hierarchy are seeking an upgrade on the talents of the Brazilian, with Gordon seen as a player who could be key in North London for years to come.

Given Newcastle's financial situation, Eddie Howe could see one of his star men leave this summer if a sizeable bid arrives from a potential suitor.

Would Gordon do well at Arsenal?

Scoring six goals and providing five assists across 32 Premier League appearances, Gordon has proven his worth as a top-tier footballer.

The former Everton youngster is also beginning to make waves on the international stage, featuring for Gareth Southgate's England at Euro 2024 last summer.

It is not completely concrete whether Gordon would be a definite upgrade on Martinelli, who shows glimpses of being a world-beater at the Emirates.
