Sebastien Squillaci expects Arsenal exit

Sebastien Squillaci says that he could leave Arsenal before the end of the month and is in contact with a host of Ligue 1 clubs.

Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillaci has admitted that he could leave the club during the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has endured a torrid time since moving to the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2010, and has found himself at the back of the queue for a place among the Gunners' centre-backs.

However, the 32-year-old, who is out of contract at the club at the end of the season, has revealed that he could leave North London by the end of the month.

"With Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen and Djourou, competition is fierce," Squillaci told varmartin.com. "I recently played in the Champions League in Greece. I made five appearances for the reserve and I always train seriously. My relationship is good with Arsene Wenger and I remain as professional as possible.

"I will be out of contract at the end of the season. As it stands, I will leave. Perhaps during the January transfer window or else I will wait for the month of June.

"Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Bastia or Ajaccio are clubs that speak to me. I am 32 years old. I still have two or three good seasons left. On the French Riviera or elsewhere. I will choose depending on the opportunities that arise."

Squillaci has 21 caps for France.
