Report: Southampton fail in Calum Chambers loan bid

Arsenal have rejected a bid from Southampton to take defender Calum Chambers on loan next season, according to reports.

Chambers signed for the Gunners from Southampton last summer for a fee of £16m, but could not keep his place in the Arsenal team last season.

Southampton reportedly tried to re-sign Chambers on loan, but manager Arsene Wenger wants to keep Chambers at the Emirates next season to act as cover for the first team.

Chambers made his England debut in October last year, following an impressive start to his Arsenal career.
