Report: Arsenal, Bacary Sagna to hold final round of talks

Bacary Sagna and Arsenal will reportedly hold one more round of talks over a new contract for the defender before the end of the season.

Bacary Sagna and Arsenal will reportedly hold one more round of talks before the end of the season.

The 31-year-old French defender is out of contract at the Gunners in the summer, and a deal between the player and his club is yet to be agreed upon.

Sagna wants a three-year deal worth £120,000 a week, while Arsenal are offering him a two-year contract and £60,000 per week, according to the Daily Star.

"The player's first option is to stay at Arsenal," the Daily Star quotes a source close to Sagna as saying. "He will consider signing a new three-year contract, salary £5m to £6m a season, plus signing-on fee and bonuses.

"It also has to include a testimonial at the end of the deal, when he would have completed 10 years at Arsenal. There is one more round of talks left before the season finishes.

"He is very keen to finish his career in an Arsenal shirt but wants to be rewarded for staying loyal to the club when others walked out. And he has had no pay rise since 2008."

Sagna joined Arsenal from Auxerre in 2007.
