Report: Arsenal close in on Federico Valverde

Arsene Wenger is ready to launch a £2.5m bid for Uruguayan teenager Federico Valverde, according to reports.

Uruguayan youngster Federico Valverde is nearing a £2.5m move to Arsenal, according to reports.

The 16-year-old midfielder currently plays Penarol in Uruguay, and has represented his country at Under-17 level.

His performances have reportedly caught the eye of Arsene Wenger, who is preparing a summer bid for Valverde, according to The Metro.

The newspaper previously reported that Valverde had a week-long trial with the Premier League club at the start of the year.
