Newcastle United join Arsenal in race to sign Clinton Njie?

Lyon forward Clinton Njie is the subject of a £10.5m bid by Newcastle United, according to reports in France.

Newcastle United have reportedly made a £10.5m bid to sign forward Clinton Njie from Lyon.

The 21-year-old has also emerged as a rumoured target for both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal are said to be favourites to land the Cameroon international, but French publication L'Equipe suggests that Newcastle have made an approach of their own.

However, the sum offered by the Magpies is claimed to be short of Lyon's valuation, after president Jean Michel Aulas stressed earlier this week that the French side were not desperate for money.

Njie scored eight goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances last season, as well as netting six times for his country.
