Mikel Arteta: 'Arsenal will always attract the best players'

Mikel Arteta claims that Arsenal will always be able to attract "the best players" amid rumours over a January push for Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that his side will always be capable of convincing world-class players to make the move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners are enduring their first season without European football since the turn of the millennium but are firmly in the race for Champions League qualification this season.

Arteta's side are believed to be pushing to secure the signature of Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this month, although they face competition from the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Inter Milan.

Arteta has no doubt over Arsenal's pulling power, though, telling reporters: "Historically this club has always been targeting the best players in the world and the best players in the world are always interested to come here and I can say that situation hasn't changed," as quoted by arsenal.com.

"Anytime I have spoken to any player, they were so willing to come, I haven't faced any other situation and that's one of our biggest powers, our capacity to get the attention of people to come and join our club, it's something that is a big advantage for us."

The Gunners boss has also ruled out the possibility of Eddie Nketiah leaving the club in January, but Folarin Balogun has now joined Middlesbrough on loan for the rest of the season.
