Mick McCarthy is looking to add a couple of Arsenal players to his Wolverhampton Wanderers squad in January.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has hinted that he would like to sign a couple of Arsenal players on loan during the January transfer window.

McCarthy was at the Emirates Stadium last week to watch the Gunners lose to Manchester City in the Carling Cup and he was reportedly impressed by the performances of Arsenal midfield duo Emmanuel Frimpong and Francis Coquelin.

The boss has admitted that securing transfer targets during the winter is difficult but he is keen to bolster his squad.

"We played Arsenal in the reserves and I watched them the other night against Manchester City," said McCarthy. "Some players just need to play, so we can maybe get a loan player. If it can be done, we'll do it.

"I think players do look at the table. They don't want to be in a relegation fight. Signing them is difficult though. They are always more expensive in January.

"If we can do something, then great, but January isn't the greatest time to get players. But we're looking."

Wolves are currently 16th in the Premier League table.
