Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is supposedly 'exploring' the summer sale of Gabriel Jesus ahead of Viktor Gyokeres's arrival.
The Gunners are finally on the verge of welcoming the Sweden international to the Emirates Stadium, as a total agreement has been reached with Sporting Lisbon over a deal that could eventually fetch €73.5m (£64.2m).
Gyokeres was pictured boarding a private jet to London on Friday as he prepares to undergo his medical over the weekend, after which the 27-year-old will fly out to Asia to join up with Mikel Arteta's squad on their pre-season tour.
Gyokeres will reinforce an Arsenal attack that was crippled by severe injuries to Jesus and Kai Havertz last season, although the latter is now back in action following a few months out with a hamstring tear.
However, Jesus is still a ways away from returning from the devastating ACL injury he picked up in January, although he has shared positive updates on his rehabilitation as he targets a return towards the end of 2025 or summer of 2026.
Arsenal receive Jesus 'enquiries' as Berta weighs up transfer
The 28-year-old may not be making his competitive comeback at the Emirates, though, as HandofArsenal claims that Berta is weighing up whether to let him depart in the current transfer window.
Arsenal have supposedly received enquiries from clubs in Europe and in Jesus's native Brazil for the former Manchester City striker, who is now in the final two years of his contract with the Gunners.
Jesus's former club Palmeiras were thought to have explored a return for the striker earlier in the year, but Arsenal had no interest in letting the South American depart midway through the campaign before his injury.
However, it remains to be seen if the Gunners' stance could change following the arrival of Gyokeres, who will be directly competing with Havertz for starts in the first few months of his Arsenal career.
Injuries have limited Jesus to 96 appearances for Arsenal since his arrival from Man City in 2022, although the 28-year-old has come up with a respectable 26 goals and 20 assists in 96 matches for the Gunners in that time.
Keep or sell: What should Arsenal do with Jesus?
One of the unluckiest troops of the current Arsenal tribe, Jesus was just starting to find his goalscoring touch again around Christmastime, as Crystal Palace fans will no doubt remember better than anyone else.
The 28-year-old memorably found the back of the net six times in four matches before his cruel ACL problem, which could prove to be the injury that spells the end of his Arsenal career.
Jesus is not expected back in action for another few months, by which point Gyokeres may have already hit the ground running, while Havertz covers for and competes with the Scandinavian in the final third.
A contract extension for Jesus is surely out of the question too, but if he does enjoy a strong second half of the 2025-26 season, there is an argument that his value may actually be higher in 2026 than it is now.
The money should talk in this scenario, and Arsenal should not try to force him out of the door if the deal is not financially viable for them, although the Gunners ought not to stand in his way if he expresses a desire to move on.
