Owen Coyle keen on Park Chu-Young loan

Wigan Athletic want Arsenal's Park Chu-Young on loan but manager Owen Coyle concedes that finances may prevent the deal from happening.

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has declared his interest in taking Arsenal forward Park Chu-Young on loan.

The 28-year-old South Korean has made just one substitute appearance since joining the Gunners from Monaco in 2011, and was loaned out to Celta Vigo last term.

Coyle revealed that the Latics have made contact with the North London team, but admitted that finances are an issue in securing a short-term deal.

"We've spoken to Arsenal about Park, and the discussions regarding the footballing side went very well," the Scot told the Lancashire Evening Post.

"Jonathan [Jackson, chief executive] was also having discussions with the financial people at Arsenal, but I think the package was just a little out of our reach at this moment in time.

"What people have got to understand is that, while we are looking to bring in very good players - which we have done - we will only pay Championship salaries, albeit with incentives and bonuses to do well. The players we have brought in have all come within our budget, and that will continue to be the case."

Park scored three goals in La Liga last season.
