Manchester City out of Robin van Persie race?

Manchester City have reportedly missed out on the chance to sign Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

The 28-year-old, who announced a desire to depart the Gunners this summer, has been strongly linked with City, along with rivals Manchester United and Juventus.

However, City boss Roberto Mancini's failure to balance the books has cost him the acquisition, according to The Mirror.

United reportedly lead the race for last season's top Premier League goalscorer.
