Arsenal reportedly inform Lille that they are 'very interested' in signing Renato Sanches next year, despite competition from AC Milan.

Arsenal are reportedly 'very interested' in signing midfielder Renato Sanches from Lille.

The Gunners are set to make do without Granit Xhaka until the new year, while Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny will jet off to the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

As a result, Mikel Arteta's side are being tipped to bolster their midfield ranks over the winter, with Lille's Sanches identified as a leading target.

A recent report stated that Arsenal previously refused to fork out £30m to secure the Portuguese's services, but according to Le 10 Sport, the Gunners retain a firm interest in the Lille man.

The outlet adds that Lille would sanction a mid-season sale for a sufficient offer, but AC Milan are currently ahead of the Gunners in the race for Sanches.

The former Bayern Munich starlet is due to become a free agent in 2023 and has registered five goals and six assists in 67 games for the Ligue 1 champions.
