Arsenal transfer news: Gabriel Jesus 'loan-to-buy' offer prepared as salary breakdown revealed

Arsenal to receive 'loan-to-buy' Jesus offer as salary breakdown revealed

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has reportedly given the 'green light' to join Brazilian giants Flamengo, who will now send an offer to the Gunners.

The 28-year-old may have just been relegated to third-choice striker at the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal finally confirmed the signing of Sweden international Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon on Saturday evening.

Gyokeres will compete with Kai Havertz for starts in the number nine role over the next few months, as Jesus will spend the first half of the 2025-26 season recovering from the devastating ACL injury that he sustained in January.

The former Manchester City is targeting a return early next year, but he is now in the final two seasons of his Arsenal contract, and sporting director Andrea Berta is rumoured to be exploring a sale in the current window.

Clubs in Brazil and Europe have reportedly enquired about the striker's availability, and according to RTI Esporte, Flamengo are 'advancing' in their efforts to bring him back to South America.

Flamengo 'preparing offer' to sign Arsenal's Jesus as details revealed

Having got the thumbs-up from the player, Flamengo are now planning to enter negotiations with Arsenal and are preparing an offer of a loan deal with an option to buy in 2026.

During Jesus's loan spell, Flamengo would hypothetically cover 50% of Jesus's salary - £265,000 a week according to Capology - while Arsenal fork out the remaining half.

A move to the Rio de Janeiro outfit would also see Jesus reunite with ex-Arsenal teammate Jorginho, who joined Flamengo on a free transfer earlier this summer after his Gunners contract expired.

Jesus was restricted to 27 appearances last season due to his crushing ACL blow, but he enjoyed a memorable renaissance at Christmas with six goals from four games against Crystal Palace, Brentford and Ipswich Town.

The Brazilian boasts a total of 26 goals and 20 assists from 96 appearances for the Gunners since his 2022 move from Manchester City, but he has missed a further 74 games for club and country through injury over the past three years.

However, an Arsenal legend has exclusively told Sports Mole that Jesus can still have a big part to play at Arsenal next season, in spite of Gyokeres's arrival and competition from Havertz.

What other players could Arsenal sell or loan after Jesus?

While Arsenal have splashed out another £200m or so on players this summer, the Gunners are yet to make any significant sales, only banking a nominal fee through Nuno Tavares's sale to Lazio.

Jesus's fellow attacker Reiss Nelson is believed to be in advanced talks over another loan move to Fulham, though, while one of Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli may need to be axed before Eberechi Eze can arrive.

Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Oleksandr Zinchenko could also be available for the right price, in addition to goalkeeper Karl Hein, who is still Mikel Arteta's number three following the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
